The 11th edition of the Southern Naval Command Military Photo Exhibition
was conducted at Lulu Mall, Ernakulam from 27- 28 Nov 21 under the aegis of the
Southern Naval Command and Press Club, Ernakulam. Three best photographs
were presented cash awards by Rear Admiral Antony George, NM, VSM, Chief of
Staff, Southern Naval Command on 28 Nov 21 at Lulu Mall, Ernakulam. Shri
Emmanual Karbhari from The Hindu, Mumbai won the “Southern Naval
Command award” of Rs. 15,000/- for the best photo exhibit. “The Venduruthy
award” of Rs. 7,000/-for the first runner-up won by Shri Sameer A Hameed
from Malayala Manorama Daily, Kannur. “The Garuda award” of Rs. 5,000/- for
the second runner-up won by Shri Sanjay Hadkar from Times Of India Mumbai.
The Special Jury award was presented to Shri VN Krishnaprakash from
Janayugom Daily,Kochi.
The exhibits were judged by a jury consisting of Commodore V B Bellary (CO,
INS Garuda), Commodore RMS Menon (Chief Controller, NAQAS) and Capt Aftab
Ahmad Khan (CO 1TS). The closing ceremony was graced by presence of Rear
Admiral Rajesh Dhankar, NM, Flag Officer Sea Training. Shri Jipson Sikhera,
President and Shri CN Reji, Secretary both representing the Ernakulam Press club
were present in the closing ceremony. A total of 98 entries were received from photo
journalists from across the country for this year’s Military Photo Exhibition. Indian
Navy has promised to come back next year with much more magical frames from the
photojournalists.
